Jesus Huezo
b. 1993, San Francisco, CA ∙ CE artist since 2015
Creating art since the young age of 10, Jesus Huezo is a dedicated and studious artist, always eager to learn and ready to tackle any new challenges.
Huezo’s influences include anime, comics, and pop culture, particularly Disney Infinity. In his signature colored pencil drawings on paper, his style is simple, defined by beautiful loose lines. Huezo’s process is all-consuming, his preparation being just as important as the artmaking itself. Before any attempts at drawing, Huezo’s research consists of watching movie trailers on loop, studying their music scores, and looking up images of the characters, his preferred subject matter.
In 2016, Huezo started to explore sculpture and papier-mâché creating a series of foods like tamales and a chili pepper. Inspired by the paleta carts he would see in Mission District, Huezo built his own paleta cart for the installation Of Here From There at SFAI Fort Mason in 2019.
