Irene Rivas
b. 1983, El Salvador ∙ CE artist since 2018
Irene Rivas is dedicated to a robust and varied art practice. A specialist with colored pencil her work is defined by bright saturated colors. Rivas also explores collage, cutting confetti sized squares of paper in a variety of colors which provide the colorful fill, line work and texture for her compositions.
Her subject matter is mostly focused on colorfully flowers and animals, but recently has been exploring figures of traditionally clad women. She has also experimented with making lively compositions in acrylic. Rivas’s commitment to her practice is playful, bright, and energetic. A daughter of an artist, Rivas is always excited to try new techniques and mediums. This emerging artist has taken strides with virtual programming, attending multiple classes a week and filling the pages of multiple sketchbooks in her daily practice.
