Michael Sean Washington was born in Los Angeles in 1971 and later moved to San Francisco in 1973. He channels his creativity through words, using markers and paint brushes to craft unique pieces that reflect his interests and life in the Bay Area.
"Writing is my favorite art to make. My artwork is kind of like a biography,” he says.
Michael builds his layered artwork with a poetry composed of lists, observations, landmarks, and more. His immaculate handwriting gives new life to salvaged photographs, maps, and paper. A man of few words, Michael says that if anyone is curious to learn more about him, they should look to his work. His goals as an artist are simple: to exhibit and sell more artwork!
