Marilyn Wong

One of our longest practicing artists, Marilyn Wong has continued to develop a unique style of abstraction rooted in repetition and form. Her masterful use of color, particularly with hot pink, creates dazzling arrays of marks that buzz with energy.
While purely abstract at a glance, Wong's work often depicts pop culture characters and celebrities, like Michael Jackson and Mickey Mouse, and sometimes includes Chinese characters. Across her practice, whether working on paper or on her epic large-scale canvases, Wong’s line is confident and gestural while simultaneously following a specific system of construction.
Wong’s work has been shown nationally and internationally (See below). In 2019, VIDA produced a curated collection of beautiful scarves, totes, clutches, and glass trays using Wong's abstract paintings.
