Hope Goodall
1965 - 2011; St. Louis, Missouri ∙ CE artist from 1991 - 2011
Hope Goodall began making art at Creativity Explored in 1991 until her death in 2011. Goodall worked primarily with drawing media and watercolor and preferred to work on small-format paper. Her joyful images of people and animals were composed of loose lines layered with washes of muted color. In 2010, Goodall completed a series of self-portraits. Though similar to her other figurative work, these drawings and paintings showed a specificity and attention to detail perhaps resulting from her intimate familiarity with the subject. Goodall also enjoyed working in with fabric. She applied her drawing style and subject matter to fabric pieces that were cut out and assembled into larger shapes that were collaged and hand-sewn into pillows.
