Eva Jun
b. 1986, San Francisco ∙ CE artist from 2008 - 2016
In her time at CE, Eva Jun used a sparing, loose, gestural stroke to convey the shape of an object or figure, her line giving immense energy to her subject. She preferred acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and ink, but she also explored other media, including a body of wood cut-outs.
Jun would create layers marks, washes, and shading in the background of her work, creating an undulating motion behind the central image. Her colorful geometric patterns were a mainstay of her practice.
