Enkh-Amar Shagdarguntev
b.1970, Mongolia ∙ CE artist since 2019
Enkh-Amar Shagdarguntev developed a style of clear line drawings using graphite and one or two-toned colored pencil backdrops. He applies his clean geometric drawing style to boats, architecture and figurative portrayals of people. Shagdarguntev’s boats take on the specialized look of folded origami, with their sharp geometric edges and flattened approach to space. Shagdarguntev’s architectural renderings hold special attention to detail with arrays of linear shapes that assemble to create articulate window shutters and the tilework of a pitched roof.
His illustration of a house was selected by artist Ana Teresa Fernández to be recreating as a large-scale sculpture for Of Here From There | De Aquí Desde Allá, an ongoing collaboration and multimedia installation.
