An extremely focused artist, Albert Duong carefully selects images to use as inspiration. With an intuitive sense of color and a remarkable eye for composition, Duong reinterprets his source material.
Duong excels with animal portraits draw from photos. Looking at his selected image, Duong examines every detail capturing the curves, color, and essence of each animal. For the background, Duong takes the complex details from photos and abstracts in his own style. His preferred medium is colored pencils which he uses to patiently saturate the backgrounds in his artwork, until only the nub of his pencil is left and he can no longer hold it. His application of color is rich, dense, static – applied with minimal blending and careful patterning.
